
Gene Therapy Summer Internship Program
The Louisiana Gene Therapy Research Consortium supports summer research internships for Louisiana students that are designed to cultivate their interest in biomedical research. Under the direction of Dr. Paula Gregory, this program offers students an opportunity to spend their summer working alongside scientists who conduct a wide range of research projects. This program offers students a chance to gain valuable hands-on experience in laboratories located at both the LSU Health Sciences Center and the Tulane University Health Sciences Center. Weekly seminars are conducted which focus on major areas of research within both universities, including: gene therapies, vaccine development, cancer research, alcohol research, research on aging, genetics research and stem cell research. Student interns come from a variety of backgrounds and the undergraduates include those attending schools like MIT, Emory, Stanford, Cornell, Rice and Boston College during the year.
