Drs. Randall and Vial

Vial Memorial Scholarship Fund

Vial family representative, Lester Vial, Jr. (’70), (right) is pictured presenting a scholarship check on behalf of the Vial family to Dr. Howard Randall, Associate Dean, Office of Student Affairs and Records, in support of the Richard H. Vial, MD, Memorial Scholarship Fund. At the time of his death in 2004, Richard Vial (’71) was Director of the Oncology Fellowship Program and the Student Curriculum Program for the Department of Internal Medicine.

Committee of 100
The Committee of 100 — Champions of Excellence was established in 1983, with Bernard Samuels (’57) and Cy Vaughn (’58) as its founding members. Members of the Committee make a pledge of $10,000 or more to support chairs and professorships in the clinical areas. Regular Members pledge $10,000, usually $1,000 a year for ten years. Contributions may be made monthly, quarterly, semiannually, or yearly. Gifts may be through a donation of appreciated stock or other assets. The 500 Club
Members of the 500 Club support basic science professorships with a donation of $500 a year for five years. For more information, contact the Office of Alumni Affairs at (504) 568-4009; email: ROAR@lsuhsc.edu.

Scholarships
The Alumni Association currently supports 30 separate scholarship funds. Some are merit-based and others are need-based. To set up a scholarship honoring yourself or someone dear to you, please contact the Office of Alumni Affairs at (504) 568-4009; email: ROAR@lsuhsc.edu. The Isidore Cohn, Jr., MD, Student Learning Center
Named for the legendary former Chairman of Surgery and located at 2020 Gravier Street, this 14,000 sq. ft. Center was built by the Alumni Association with donated funds. It opened in August 2001. We are continually adding new and innovative teaching tools for the education of students and house staff. To tour the facility, click here. The Legacy Society

Charitable Gift Annuity
A charitable gift annuity enables you to transfer cash or marketable securities to your Alumni Association in exchange for a current income tax deduction and the organization's promise to make fixed annual payments to you for life.
