The Ernest N. Morial Asthma, Allergy & Respiratory
Disease Center at LSU Medical Center is a comprehensive resource
for the physician. Realizing that the needs of each patient and
physician are different, programs for the education and management
of asthmatics are tailored to meet individual needs.
Services include physician education and telephone consultations.
Physicians can refer patients for any of the following services:
- Evaluation by a qualified specialist, focused on individual
patient needs. At the completion of the evaluation,
a letter outlining the assessment and disease management
plan will
be forwarded to the referring physician to assist
him in the continued management of his patient.
- Extensive
patient education and self management program.
- Psychosocial evaluation.
- Case management services utilizing
a visiting nurse and/or social worker for patients
who continue
to have problems
after completing the program.
