Lowell Anthony, MD Lowell Anthony, MD, is the Director of Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Oncology. He is a Professor of Medicine in the university’s Division of Hematology and Oncology, where he was the Acting Director prior to assuming his current post. A fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Anthony also is an active member of several professional organizations, having served on Committees with the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He is on the Board of Directors for NANETS, a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Federation of Medical Research, and an elected member of the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation. Dr Anthony also plays a leadership role within the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, serving on the Executive Advisory Board to the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center, as Chairman of the Cancer Committee for the Medical Center of Louisiana Hospital Cancer Program. He is on the Advisory Board for the General Clinical Research Center and a member of the Southwest Oncology Group’s GI subcommittee. Dr. Anthony’s work has appeared in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the Italian Journal of Gastroenterology, Cancer Research, Clinical Pharmacology Therapeutics, the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, the American Journal of Surgery, the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and the Annals of Internal Medicine. Further, he has written and co-authored many book chapters, abstracts, and audiovisual media. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Cancer, among other publications. He has been a guest lecturer at numerous national and international scientific forums.  Along with Drs. Eugene Woltering and Phillip Boudreaux, he founded the Neuroendocrine Tumor Clinic at the Ochsner Medical Center in Kenner. One of the nation’s few specialized neuroendocrine referral programs, this draws patients from around the world and treats over 2,500 patients a year.
