Hamid Boulares, PhD, earned his PhD from the University of Connecticut (Storrs) in 1997, and is an Associate Professor of both Pharmacology and Pathology.  His research interests include the use of cell culture systems and animal models to study the intricate relationship between the nuclear enzyme poly(ADP) ribose polymerase1 (PARP-1) and the effect of oxidative stress in asthma, atherosclerosis, and colon cancer.
