Alfredo Lopez, MD, PhD Alfredo Lopez, MD, PhD, earned his MD from the University of Salamanca, Spain in 1955 and completed his PhD in Biochemistry at Tulane University’s School of Medicine in 1963.  He served as the Rockefeller Foundation Fellow Instructor “Ad Honoren” in Biochemistry at the University of Valle in Colombia from 1958 until in 1960, he became a Rockefeller Foundation Fellow in the Department of Medicine and Graduate School at Tulane University’s School of Medicine in New Orleans.  Today, he serves as Chief of Nutrition at LSU Health Sciences Center, as well as Vice-Chair in the Department of Internal Medicine.  He is the Fred Allison, Jr. Professor of Medicine.
