The skin of a psoriasis patient was treated with phototherapy (UV light) thrice a week for 6 weeks. The darker cells show the expression of mutant p53 gene, an early marker for skin cancer. Phototherapy of psoriasis might increase the risk of skin cancer development. (Dr. Allal Ouhtit)
