Dr. Breslin received his B.A. degree in Biological Sciences from Rutgers Univesity, his M.S. in Biology from Seton Hall University, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Physiology from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He trained as a postdoctoral fellow under the direction of Dr. Sarah Yuan, first at the Texas A&M Health Science Center and then at the University of California, Davis. His current appointment is as an Assistant Professor of Physiology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO) School of Medicine. His lab studies microvascular exchange function and tissue homeostasis during inflammation, disease, and trauma.
For his research contributions in the area of microcirculation and lympatics, Dr. Breslin received the August Krogh Young Investigator Award in 2004 and the Lymphatic Research Foundation/Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Fellowship in 2006. He has also received past support from an NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award and a Scott and White Foundation Research Grant. Dr. Breslin’s current research is funded by a Scientist Development Grant from the American Heart Association National Center, as well as by a COBRE grant to the LSUHSC-NO Department of Pharmacology. His COBRE research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate transport of fluids and solutes from the blood into the tissues, under normal and disease conditions.
