Can I join Tiger Pride if I'm not training to be a health care provider?

Yes. Tiger Pride is an interprofessional group. As such, we welcome members from all six schools of LSU Health Sciences Center.

How do I join Tiger Pride?

Check the sidebar to subscribe to our listserv. If you'd like more information before signing up, feel free to contact one of our officers or school representatives. In order to protect the privacy of our members, we use "blind carbon copy" for email correspondence. This means that you can't see the other recipients of the email and they can't see you.

How often does Tiger Pride meet?

Tiger Pride typically meets 2-3 times per year. Check our sidebar for the next meeting date, time, and location.

What is Safe Zone training?

SafeZone Training was created to develop, enhance and maintain environments in workplaces, schools and other social settings that are culturally competent and supportive to LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning) individuals, as well as straight, cisgender people who care about diversity, equality and inclusion. The SafeZone programs aim to increase the awareness, knowledge, and skills for individuals and address the challenges that exist when one wants to advocate for their LGBTQ peers, family members, friends,    co-workers and for themselves.

Safe Zone training is available to LSUHSC faculty, staff, and students. For more information, contact Dr. Gregory Casey at gcasey@lsuhsc.edu

To read more about Safe Zone training, please visit http://www.gayalliance.org/programs/education-safezone/

Are there any faculty on the LSUHSC campus that are Safe Zone trained?

To date, 27 participants have undergone Safe Zone training. They can be identified by the Safe Zone sticker (shown below) attached to their office nameplate. In addition, a list of all Safe Zone participants and their contact information can be found on the sidebar to the right.
