As with education and patient care, the LSU Section of Emergency Medicine strives for excellence in the pursuit of academic research. Our research efforts encompass a wide spectrum including bench research in the basic sciences, clinical trials, and population based studies. Specific interests include hyberbarics, neuroscience, critical care and resuscitation, EM ultrasonography, infectious disease, toxicology, disaster medicine and public health. Our residents and staff routinely present at annual conferences, such as LSU research day, Southeastern SAEM, SAEM national assembly, ACEP national assembly, Southern Medical Society, and many others. Some of our recent publications can be found in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Annals of Emergency Medicine, Academic Emergency Medicine, Journal of Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medicine Journal in the UK.
