Subscriptions: Journal of Emergency Medicine, Annals of Emergency Medicine

Books: Every resident is provided a current EM textbook.

Conference stipend: $1000 for travel or book/subscription purchase for each resident. Resident travel costs to present research covered in addition to basic stipend.

Insurance: Participation in state employee group benefit program for medical and disability insurance. Malpractice provided.

New Orleans Boot Camp: Each resident is subjected annually to a truly unique New Orleans experience.  An example of a previous year's events included: 

  • PGY1&2: Cafe Du Monde, French Quarter Excursion with tours of various museums ending at a local deli for lunch (aka, muffelatta heaven). 
  • PGY3: Coffee House Extravaganza, Scavenger Hunt through Garden District, New Orleans Cooking Class. 
  • PGY4: The Ultimate Challenge Scavenger Hunt through French Quarter ending in one of New Orleans' finest restaurants.
