Slidell Memorial Hospital

Slidell Memorial Hospital (SMH) is located in Slidell, La approximately 45 miles from downtown New Orleans. SMH and the LSU Emergency Medicine Program have had a long standing relationship, with several SMH ED faculty holding academic ED appointments at Univeristy Hospital. Residents rotate for one month per year starting in PGY 2 and work 15 12 hour shifts. The ED is a Level 3 trauma center and sees 35,000 patients per year. Residents can expect to encounter a primarily private geriatric population with low trauma volume. All ED faculty are Charity EM graduates and board certified in Emergency Medicine.

Parking and meals are provided during the rotation.
