Case Presentation

 Each student is required to present an interesting or informative case that they have personally been involved with during their rotation to the group. This presentation will be graded by the course director and used in the calculation of your final course grade. This presentation should be similar to a morning report-style presentation - but more focused and brief - and include:

  • chief complaint;
  • history of present illness;
  • review of systems (including PMH, all pertinent social/family/meds history);
  • physical exam;
  • differential diagnosis;
  • lab work, studies, hospital course;
  • disposition and outcome; and
  •  two board-style questions relating to the diagnosis or case presentation.

 The presentation should be ten minutes in length, plus time for discussion. Powerpoint presentations are strongly encouraged. You should consult at least one or two major texts, as well as other reference sources, for background material on your case. The case presentation will be evaluated for content, style, and depth of knowledge.
