and to educate interested members about the exciting field of Emergency
Medicine.
v This organization is for all students
and we hope to provide you with opportunities and clinically relevant
experiences that will help you to become a better medical student. Medical
education is a dynamic process and we would like as many people as possible
involved with the opportunities we offer.
v The
LSUHSC Emergency Medicine Interest Group, or EMIG, is an organization whose
mission is to provide both education and experience in the field of
Emergency Medicine.
v If you are considering
Emergency Medicine as a possible career choice, or just want to gain some
experience in the Emergency Room setting, then EMIG is the place to start.
v Benefits of belonging to
EMIG:

Only
EMIG members are allowed to sign up to volunteer at LSU Interim
Hospital
(University). EMIG provides your malpractice coverage.
o
Many
EMIG members are American Heart Association Life Support Instructors. EMIG
members may become certified at both the provider and instructor level
for BLS, ACLS and PALS.
o
Free
Food! Lunch meetings with speakers presenting a variety of topics in
emergency medicine.
