Clinical Care

The section currently is involved in three major clinical initiatives which include General Endocrinology clinics, an Obesity Clinic and a resident directed continuity diabetes clinic. Through these initiatives, the Section physicians deliver a high level of medical care to large numbers of patients with diabetes mellitus, lipid abnormalities, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, and other endocrine diseases.

General Endocrinology Clinics

General endocrine cases are seen at three locations. These clinics are staffed by faculty endocrinologists and primarily serve adult patients who are being evaluated or treated for any endocrine condition.

Resident Primary Care Diabetes Clinic

The resident directed continuity diabetes clinic is an innovative concept where Internal Medicine residents have a continuity clinic whose patient population consists primarily of type 1 and 2 diabetes. The clinic is unique in that each resident will see his own patients on a continuity basis with a staff endocrinologist to address the special needs of the diabetic patient. Although the clinic is a primary care clinic, it is staffed by Section Endocrinologists and therefore has a standard of care for diabetes as established in specialty clinics.
