PROCEDURES

Ultrasound: Our state-of-the-art ultrasound machine offers our residents regular use under the supervision of trained Family Medicine faculty members.

Colposcopy: Our brand new state-of-the-art colposcopy machine in our clinic offers our residents regular use under the supervision of trained Family Medicine faculty.  

LEEP: Residents perform Loop Electrosurgical Excision in our clinic under the supervision of a Family Medicine faculty member. 

Endoscopy: We have full access and privileges to the LSUBMC endoscopy suite to perform EGDs and colonoscopies under the supervision of a Family Medicine faculty member. 

Exercise treadmill testing: We have full access to a state-of-the-art exercise treadmill at LSUBMC. Residents regularly use the equipment for stress testing under the supervision of a Family Medicine faculty member. 

Dermatologic procedures: Residents routinely perform biopsies, cryosurgery aesthetic laceration repair, nail removal, abscess I & D, plastics closures, and other advanced derm procedures under the supervision of a Family Medicine faculty member. 

ECG: Our brand new ECG machines allow residents to immediately evaluate patients. 

Circumcision: Residents routinely perform Mogan, Plastibell, and Gomco circumcision under the supervision of Family Medicine faculty member. 

IV sedation/analgesia: Our clinic procedural room is equipped with modern monitors for IV sedation and analgesia as required. 

Vasectomy: Residents routinely perform vasectomies in our clinic under the supervision of a Family Medicine faculty member. 

Orthopedics: Residents cast and splint patients in the clinic. Joint injections are also routinely performed by the residents. All these procedures are done under the supervision of a Family Medicine faculty member.
