Bio

Dr. Cefalu is Professor and Chief of the Section of Geriatric Medicine and the Program Director for the LSUHSC Geriatric Medicine Fellowship.  He is on the Board of Directors of the American Geriatrics Society and Chair of the Clinical Practice Committee of AMDA (national nursing home medical directors association).  He has spoken and published extensively in his 34-year academic and private practice career and has served as a Family Medicine Residency Director, Geriatric Hartford Consultant, and Medical Director of an acute care teaching hospital. He also has served as primary care physician and medical director of various nursing homes during his career and has staffed a primary care family medicine and geriatric primary care and geriatric consultation clinic and inpatient consultation unit.

Osteoporosis; Chronic Anemia; Dehydration in the LTC Setting; Chronic constipation
