Bio

Alan L. LeBato, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, La. He is a 1983 graduate of LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. He completed his residency at the W.O. Moss Regional Family Practice Residency, where he served as chief resident in his third year. Dr. LeBato has been active in the American Academy of Family Physicians and is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. LeBato worked in private practice for 14 years, and his practice in Sulphur, La., encompassed the full range of a family physician, including obstetrics, endoscopy, and other procedures. Dr. LeBato became program director in 1997 and continues to maintain private patients in the LSU Family Practice Center and teach procedural skills to residents.

He is past president of the Calcasieu Parish Medical Society and the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital staff. He serves on the public-relations committee for the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians and is a member of the President's Council Advisory Board for Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

Dr. LeBato is married with three children and enjoys tennis, jogging, hunting, and fishing.
