Bio L. Glen Mire, MD, is an Associate Professor in the LSU Department of Family Medicine and serves as the Director of the LSU Family Medicine Residency at University Medical Center in Lafayette. After graduating from LSU School of Medicine-New Orleans in 1973, Dr. Mire completed a rotating internship in San Bernardino, Calif. For the following three years, he was stationed in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, with the U.S. Army. Upon return to the U.S., Dr. Mire completed his Family Medicine residency at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, in 1979. Since that time, Dr. Mire has lived in Lafayette, and until 1990, he practiced with the Hamilton Medical Group, along with Dr. Albert Rees.

Dr. Mire is responsible for the Geriatric Medicine curriculum of the Residency Program. He has maintained a large nursing-home practice since 1992. He also is very active in Sports Medicine. Dr. Mire has served as a high-school team physician and, since 1991, as one of the team physicians at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Dr. Mire is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and also holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine.
