San-San Ng received her Bachelor in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University in 1996 and spent the next four years at Tulane Medical Center, studying DNA replication and gene expression, using bacteriophage T4 and T4-related phages as models.

In 2000 she joined the Department of Genetics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and Department of Pathology at Children's Hospital, New Orleans, developing clinical tests for the studies and identification of genetics mutations in the Acadian population. She was promoted to Lab Director in 2001 to head the Genomics Core Facility. She served in that capacity until 2006.

Ms. Ng is board certified by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a specialist in the field of Molecular Biology. Her clinical works include Fragile-X Syndrome, HCMV, Herpes I and II, and Enterovirus.
