Srirangan Sampath is graduate student in the Department of Genetics at LSU Health Sciences Center. He was born in Chennai, India. He received his Master's in Human Genetics from Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute in India. He carried out a research project on congenital glaucoma at the L. V. Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad before moving to the National Brain Research Centre, where he worked on susceptibility factors to sporadic Parkinson's disease. At LSU Health Sciences Center, he worked with Dr. Bo Xu at the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center for a year. In Dr. Xu's lab, his research focus was to develop a Zebrafish model to study DNA repair and cancer. His efforts led to funding for a Student Research Grant from the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans (CAGNO) and a submission of a nucleotide sequence to Gen Bank.
