Xi (Jessie) Tang is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Genetics working in laboratory of Bo Xu, MD, PhD., Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center. She has been selected to receive the American Society for Cell Biology Predoctoral Student Travel Award. She is being recognized for her promising work on cell cycle regulation. She will present her research abstract entitled "The role of protein phosphatase one (PPI) in regulation of Histone H3 phosphorylation" to the 44th ASCB Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. She was born in southwest China (Chongqing). She received a medical degree from North China Coal Medical College in 1993. She taught in the Department of Physiology at the same medical college for six years. In 2002, she received her Master's degree in Neurobiology from the Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing. After that, Jessie joined the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy as a graduate student at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in August 2002. In February 2004, she moved to the Department of Genetics joined Dr.Bo Xu's research group. |
