Leah B. Balhoff is a research associate in the laboratory of Dr. Diptasri Mandal. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University. Previously she worked as a research associate at Pennington Biomedical Research Center under Dr. Don Williamson.

In February 2007 she joined the Department of Genetics at LSUHSC. Currently, she is involved in the ongoing research study of prostate cancer in African Americans and Caucasians throughout the Gulf Coast region. The study aims to find the gene(s) linked to prostate cancer in both populations.
