Uyen A. Tran is a research associate in the laboratory of Dr. Oliver Wessely. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Chemistry from the University of La Verne at Los Angeles, California. She previously worked in the laboratory of Dr. E. M. De Robertis at UCLA studying early development of mouse and Xenopus laevis embryos.

In 2003, she joined LSUHSC and the Department of Genetics. She is currently involved in the ongoing research in the laboratory of Dr. Wessely studying early amphibian development and the molecular mechanisms regulating germ layer formation and pronephros development.
