Bio

Dr. Aguilar is Director of Clinical Research in the Section of Nephrology and Hypertension. His training includes a fellowship in molecular biology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1972 and a nutritional biochemistry fellowship in the World Hunger Programme at the United Nations University and Institute of Nutrition for Central America and Panama, Guatemala, from 1977-1979.

Dr. Aguilar lectures on clinical research topics to nephrology fellows and has extensive experience in clinical research protocols in nephrology and hypertension and in the geriatric population. He holds an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor appointment at the Tulane University School of Public Health, and he is a member of the LSU Health Sciences Center Institutional Review Board.

Hypertension, anemia, and osteodystrophy in dialysis patients
Stress-related hypertension in the general population
Chronic kidney disease and anemia in the geriatric population
