Dr. Aiken completed his internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 1980. He then accepted the position of Medical Director of EMS Services for St. Bernard Parish, a post which he held until 1988. He also worked as a staff physician in the Emergency Department at Chalmette Medical Center in Chalmette, Louisiana from 1980 to 1998. Following that time, he spent three years as Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Elmwood Medical Center and five years as Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Touro Infirmary. Currently, Dr. Aiken serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine for the LSU Residency Program in Emergency Medicine, Associate Clinical Professor of Public Health for the LSU Health Science Center School of Public Health, and Director of the LSU School of Public Health Homeland Defense Programs. He is also on the faculty of the FEMA Noble Training Academy in Anniston, Alabama and is often invited to speak on emergency preparedness. Dr. Aiken is board certified in Emergency Medicine. |
