Bio

After receiving his PhD, Dr. Ma was a guest researcher in the Department of Parasitology at Gifu University School of Medicine in Japan. From 1997 to 2002, he was a Visiting Scientist in the Critical Care Medicine Department of the Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. He then spent a year doing research in the Department of Biology at Loyola University in Chicago before moving to New Orleans to become Assistant Professor of Research in the Section of Infectious Diseases at LSU School of Medicine.

Dr. Ma is a member of the Korean Society for Parasitology, the American Society for Microbiology, and the International Organization for Mycoplasmology. He also serves on the boards of the International Association of Chinese Medical Specialists & Psychologists and the World Association of Chinese Sexologists. 
 

Research Interests

Genomics and proteomics approaches to the pathogenesis of sexually transmitted pathogens (Mycoplasma genitalium, Chlamydia trachomatis, Ureaplasma spp. etc.).

Drug resistance and immunopathogenesis of Pneumocystis.
