Cardiology Fellowship Program
Number of fellows in the 3 year Cardiology fellowship training program - 12
As a Fellow, you will be expected to:
- Rotate with each of our Staff physicians on several different services including consults, echocardiography, arrhythmia, cardiac catheterization, etc.
- Attend weekly Cardiac Catheterization, ECG, Echocardiography, and Case conferences.
- Attend and give lectures for Cardiology Grand Rounds and Journal Club.
- Attend monthly research conferences and present your projects.
- Work with the Program Director to ensure publication of research data.
- Attend Core Curriculum Workshops.
- See patients in the LSU Interim Hospital Subspecialty Clinic weekly. {Continuity clinic}
- Interact with students and residents in patient care and teaching.
Curriculum
Typical First Year Schedule
- 2 months of CCU/Cardiology Consult Service
- 3 months of Cath Lab
- 1 month of Electrophysiology
- 1 month of Echo
- 3 months at Touro Infirmary
- 1 month at Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner
- 1 month of Research
- 1 month of Vacation
Typical 2nd Year Schedule
- 1 month of CCU/Cardiology Consult Service
- 2 months of Cath Lab
- 1 month of Electrophysiology
- 1 month of Echo
- 3 months at Touro Infirmary
- 1 month at Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner
- 1 month of Research
- 2 months of Elective
