The Section of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine at LSUHSC is led by Roberto Quintal, MD, PhD. Faculty and fellows from the Section provide clinical care at the LSU-Interim Hospital, Touro Infirmary, Ochsner-Kenner Medical Center, Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge, University Medical Center in Lafayette, and Lallie Kemp Hospital in Independence. An ACGME approved fellowship training program in Cardiovascular Diseases exists under the leadership of Neeraj Jain, MD. Active research and clinical interests in the Section include cardiovascular pathophysiology, congenital heart disease in the adult, electrocardiography, four-dimensional echocardiography, peripheral vascular disease and mesenteric ischemia and use of simulators in medical training.
