Hematology-Oncology

Welcome to the LSU Hematology-Oncology Section

Our goals are to provide the highest quality clinical care for patients, to conduct high quality research, and to train the next generation of Hematologists and Oncologists. Our section is driven by six full time faculty and sevearl adjunct clinical faculty.

Our board certified specialists see a full range of oncologic and hematologic problems including breast, lung, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, lymphoma and other cancers as well as anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and coagulation disorders. To provide the most uptodate care our faculty specializes in specific tumor types. The section works in close collaborations with other specialties such as surgical oncology, radiation oncology, gynecologic oncology, radiology and pathology to provide multidisciplinary care and expertise to our patients.

Despite important advances in treatment, cancer continues to be a major public health problem and our faculty is dedicated not only to provide state of the art care to every patient affected with cancer, but also to develop and discover new lifesaving treatments for people affected by this disease. We are an important part of the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center, a multidisciplinary organization whose researchers and clinicians are dedicated to furthering research on the pathogenesis, prevention, treatment, and eventual eradication of cancer.

Our ACGME-accredited Hematology and Oncology fellowship program trains seven fellows.
