2004-present

Under the direction of his mentor James Hempe, PhD, Daniel has continued the research that he began in medical school at The Research Institute for Children at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, LA.  He has studied the association of hemoglobin glycation phenotype and post-challenge blood glucose as well as the relationship between insulin resistance and endogenous antioxidant status.

Posters Presented:

  1. June, 2006 “Inverse Relationship Between Erythrocyte Glutathione and Post-Challenge Blood Glucose in B6129SF2/J Hybrid Mice.”  Presented at the 66th Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association, Washington D.C.
  2. May, 2005 “Inverse Relationship Between Erythrocyte Glutathione and Insulin Resistance in Mice.” Presented at the 11th Annual LSUHSC Pediatrics Research Day, New Orleans, LA. (Winner of Best Resident Poster)
  3. February, 2005 “The Mouse Beta Globin Gene Locus is an Independent Modifier of Erythrocyte Glutathione Metabolism.” Presented at the Southern Society for Pediatric Research Regional Meeting, New Orleans, LA
