Hospitals and Other Teaching Facilities
The primary teaching hospital in New Orleans is the Medical Center of Louisiana. The Medical Center of LA-University Hospital in close proximity to the LSU Health Sciences Campus. MCLANO-University Hospital is a state-owned acute care hospital for both public and private patients. There is a new state of the art Emergency Room and trauma unit.
Some residents also rotate to several other hospitals in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette. The affiliated hospitals in the New Orleans area include Children's Hospital, Ochsner Foundation Hospital, West Jefferson Medical Center, New Orleans Adolescent Hospital, Ochsner-Kenner Regional Medical Center, Touro Infirmary, and Veterans Administration Medical Center Clinic. Earl K. Long Medical Center and Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center are located in Baton Rouge and offer a great variety of rotations and experiences for some LSU programs. Leonard Chabert Medical Center in Houma, and University Medical Center in Lafayette are also training sites where several New Orleans programs rotate.
