The didactic curriculum is designed as a graduated learning program. Residents are expected to learn in an experience dependant manner.
Residents receive and are actively involved in a year long didactic session that covers comprehensibly one of the major general neurology textbooks. Additionally, resident have weekly formal case presentations and specialty oriented lectures. There is an In-service review course that runs most of the year. Residents are required to attend Neuropathology Case Conferences, and Neuroradiology rounds. Residents may attend monthly Neuromuscular Grand Rounds and senior residents are required to attend Pain Management Case Conference.
Residents also receive an intensive three month course in the basic neurosciences in conjunction with the LSUHSC Neuroscience post-doctoral program.
