Rotations

The goal of the Neurology program at LSUHSC is to provide the necessary clinical experiences required in becoming a competent general neurologist. Residents will develop the ability to reason in an analytical manner and practice evidence based neurology.

Residents will be able to meet all the program requirements as stipulated by the ACGME for a general neurology program. Rotations may be one month long or in order to achieve a progressive level of learning some of our rotations are done in a modular manner. Residents have required readings with each of their rotations.  Residents have a research month that is performed in their first year; this allows for the resident to have the opportunity to develop a long term research project. Other rotations offered are: EEG, EMG, Neuromuscular, Neurooncology, Consultative Neurology, Neurophthalmology, Neuroradiology, Psychiatry, Pediatric Neurology and Movement Disorders.

Residents have the opportunity to schedule one elective month per year. This month may be spent in any area that would enrich the resident educationally.
