celebrate
Diamond Jubilee in 2006
LSU School of
Medicine in New Orleans will
celebrate its Diamond Jubilee
in 2006 with a series of events
taking place throughout the
year. Formation of the School
was authorized by the LSU Board
of Supervisors in January 1931
at a meeting requested by then
Governor Huey Long.
The meeting took place in Governor
Long's suite in the Roosevelt
(now Fairmont) Hotel in New
Orleans. The first event of
2006 will take place on January
7, 2006, at a black tie optional
dinner at the Fairmont Hotel.
The event will be open to the
public. It is expected that
Governor Long will make an
appearance. For further information
