Bio

Dr. Alleyn was born in Miami, Florida and is of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent.  He graduated with a B.A. degree in Psychology from Georgetown University, where he was a Jesuit Scholar, and later completed his medical training at the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Puerto Rico.  Dr. Alleyn completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tulane University School of Medicine in 2006 and   joined the Generalist Division at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.  In 2008, Dr. Alleyn was appointed as Clerkship Director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Education of medical students and residents has been a priority throughout his medical career.  Dr. Alleyn realized this passion during his years of residency training, which led him to a career in academic medicine. Since taking over the OBGYN 3rd year medical student clerkship, he has completely restructured the medical student curriculum.  The focus has shifted from didactic experiences to an active learning model.  This new curriculum also incorporates one-on-one faculty preceptor sessions and team based learning activities into the clerkship, both of which are highly regarded by the students.

Away from work, Dr. Alleyn has dedicated an extensive amount of his time to raising funds for pediatric brain cancer through Hogs for the Cause, a non-profit organization that hosts an annual pig roast in the city of New Orleans to benefit the families of children with this disease.
