Rebecca Conrad wins Excellence in Teaching Award
Rebecca Conrad was honored yesterday in a ceremony by the medical student Aesculapian Society as the outstanding resident for 2005-06. She was chosen from among all LSU residents by the L3 students. The awards were presented by Drs. Hollier & Hilton.
Terrie Thomas Wins NIH Award
Dr. Terrie Thomas House Officer 4 has won an NIH Award for a weekend in New York City to study and work with other researchers. Congratulations Terrie!
Summer Khan Receives Prestigious ORR Service Community Award
Dr. Summer Khan has been honored with a prestigious award as the National Recipient of the ORR (Organization of Resident Representatives) Service Community Award. This is an award given by the AAMC to the resident who has shown the most dedication to community and service work throughout the nation. She will be flown to Washington DC to receive the award and will be given $500 for the charity of her choice, which is Camp Tiger, run by the LSU students each summer for underprivileged children in New Orleans, LA.
MCLANO Best Resident and Best Intern of the Year Awards were give to two OB/GYN Residents
Dr. Mindi Beahm is the Intern of the Year and Dr. Summer Khan is the Best Resident of the Year! Congratulations to both! This is the first time OB/Gyn has won both awards and we are very proud of Mindi and Summer!

Memorial Day weekend, May 28-29, was spent livening up Labor and Delivery thanks to the leadership of Dr. Summer Khan and the hard work of LSUHSC and TUHSC residents and nurses. It was a very big job and it turned out beautifully!

We are proud of our residents! The Aesculapian Society has voted Irene Stafford the 2004-5 Best Resident Teacher of all Residency Programs at LSUHSC! Other winners included: Terrie Thomas, Honorable Mention as Best HOIII Teacher; Amanda Barrett, Honorable Mention as Best Intern Teacher; and Gary Dildy, Jr., Honorable Mention as Best Faculty Teacher.

Dr. Archana R. Paine and Dr. Gary Dildy, III won second prize in Abstract Awards, at the APGO/CREOG annual meeting. The subject was, “Estimated Blood Loss: Does Clinical Experience Influence Accuracy?”

Best Intern and Best Resident Nominated
Nominated for the Best Intern and the Best Resident of the year 2003-2004 were Rebecca Conrad and Brooke Kyle. They both attended the Annual Luncheon honoring all the nominees at the Windsor Court on June 2, 2004. The Intern and Resident of the Year Ceremony was begun in 1978 to recognize those House Officers who best exemplified the ideal, outstanding, and model patient care provider at Medical Center of Louisiana.
Dr. Dildy, III, Editor-in-Chief of 4th Edition of Critical Care Obstetrics
Gary A. Dildy, III served as Editor-in-Chief of the fourth edition of Critical Care Obstetrics (Blackwell Publishing Company). The fourth edition was extensively revised to reflect the advances that have been made in maternal-fetal medicine. The new edition contains 14 new chapters written by the field's leading physicians, and offers expanded coverage in areas vital to intensive care management, including neonatal resuscitation, the organ transplant obstetrical patient, and ethical considerations. It is designed as a practical guide and reference book for obstetricians and primary care physicians, in both the treatment and referral of high-risk patients.
