Residents at Touro Hospital lecture room with the televised lectures to Lafayette

The LSU OB-GYN Service responds to its legislative charge to train obstetricians and gynecologists and medical students as well as provide staffing and services to the indigent patients of the areas served by two hospitals.

The "home base" hospital is University Hospital in New Orleans.

In 1982, the modern University Medical Center replaced the old Lafayette Charity Hospital as our facility in Lafayette (an hour west of Baton Rouge on I-10).  Five residents are assigned to Lafayette.

The weekly resident didactic meetings are teleconferenced between New Orleans and Lafayette.

Here are some pictures of the simulation lab presently at the MEB (Medical Education Building), taught by Dr. Hoxsey the Program Director. Students as well as Residents are involved with the learning simulators and some residents are carrying out research projects in the simulation lab.
