Dr McWhorter joined the faculty of LSU in 2001 where he worked to expand The Voice Center created by Dr. George Lyons. He did further training in Belgium, France and Germany with leaders in the field of conservation laryngeal surgery. Dr. McWhorter successfully recruited Dr. Melda Kunduk PhD SLP-CCC to the LSU Voice Center in 2003. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, The Voice Center had plans to expand to Baton Rouge in a new partnership with Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and remains its clinical practice site. Dr. McWhorter's practice encompasses all areas of laryngology with a special interest in conservation laryngeal surgery. His primary area of research is high speed digital imaging in coordination with Dr. Kunduk. |
