| Bio |
Following graduation in 1992 she began working with a hearing aid company towards her Certificate of Clinical Competence and finished the year at The Medical Center of Louisiana, ENT clinic under the supervision of Dr. Charles Berlin. She spent two years working with the ENT residents from LSU and Tulane University in The Medical Center of Louisiana ENT clinic providing the audiological services. In 1995 she received a promotion to the private clinic for LSU Medical School, Department of Otorhinolaryngology. Job responsibilities included weekly clinic with Dr. Charles Berlin for comprehensive diagnostic audiological evaluations, hearing aid fittings and management, and auditory brainstem response testing including middle latency responses (MLR) and late latency responses (LLR). Testing also included diagnosing and managing cases of Auditory Dys-synchrony which led to a published article on the unusual audiological pattern of Auditory Dys-synchrony cases. She also worked with faculty of The Kresge Hearing Research Laboratory in coordinating clinical cases for research purposes including cases on Auditory Dys-synchrony, hereditary hearing loss and Ushers Syndrome. She served as an instructor for the Kresge Hearing Research Lab courses on Basic ABR with Oto-acoustic Emissions, Advanced Auditory Brainstem Testing, Hearing aids and Real Ear Measurements, and Identification and Management of Hearing Loss. She became the Director of Audiology and Hearing aid services at LSU Health Sciences Center, Department of Otorhinolaryngology following the retirement of Dr. Charles Berlin in 2002. The Audiology and Hearing Aid clinic continued with services including ABR testing, hearing aids and assistive listening devices, and ENG testing. The Audiology faculty assumed the responsibility of establishing, performing, and managing the hearing screening for University Hospital in 2005 which came to an abrupt end at the time of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. Following Hurricane Katrina, she had to re-establish hearing aid services in New Orleans with ENT services temporarily established in Baton Rouge and Lafayette. Clinical responsibilities continue to change, and therefore, she has decided to pursue a doctorate of Audiology beginning in 2007. |
