CLINICAL INFORMATION: The patient is a 43 year old man with mal absoption disturbances, severe diarrhea, steatorrhea and slight skin pigmentation of two years duration. A duodenal biopsy was obtained.

INFORMACION CLINICA: El paciente es un hombre de 43 años con malabsorcion intestinal, diarrea severa, esteatorrea y  debil obscurecimiento de la piel por los dos ultimos años.

COMMENT: The vacuoles (lysosomes) in the foamy macrophages show rod-shaped microorganisms and serpiginous membranes typical of Whipple's disease.

COMENTARIO: Las vacuolas (lisosomas) en los macrófagos contienen microorganismos y abundantes membranas serpiginosas caracteristicas de la enfermedad de Whipple.
