Welcome to the LSU web page for the Associate Dean for
Clinical Affairs. The Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs
interacts with the other Associate and Assistant Deans
with the clinical activities of our faculty being the
primary concern. Clinical activities of the faculty are
centered in the Charity Hospital system with our primary
hospital being the Medical Center of Louisiana in New
Orleans (MCLNO). MCLNO is divided into two campuses,
Reverend Avery Alexander Facility located on Tulane Avenue
(Big Charity) and the University Hospital campus located
three blocks away. The faculty also have responsibilities
at multiple other institutions within the city and in
the southern part of the state of Louisiana. A partial
list of these hospitals includes Children’s Hospital,
New Orleans VA Medical Center (NOVAMC), Earl K. Long
Hospital in Baton Rouge, University Medical Center in
Lafayette, Kenner Regional Medical Center, Baptist Hospital,
the Lindy Boggs Medical Center, and many other facilities.
The faculty have a busy outpatient practice as well as
intense inpatient activities. The Level 1 Trauma Center
at MCLNO is the only Level 1 Trauma Center within 300
miles. The clinical faculty are leased to the LSU Healthcare
Network which is responsible for the financial aspects
of the clinical practice.
All in all, the activities of the faculty at LSU New Orleans
run the gauntlet from the most basic programs in wellness
and in family practice through the spectrum to the most
highly specialized quaternary intensive care units within
our hospitals.
