Educational Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

1. Discuss theories of social justice as they apply to access and equity in health care.
2. Display skills in analyzing social determinants of disparities in health care.
3. Discuss current and proposed policies for setting the health care agenda.
4. Recognize the need for further research and advocacy to alleviate health care disparities.

Target audience:

This activity is specifically directed towards the pediatrician, but it is open to all other intrested physicians, residents, medical students, allied health professionals, social workers and all other interested individuals.

Format:

Symposium and Workshop: Formal lectures break-out sessions, panel presentations followed by general discussion.

Participants are responsible for making their own arrangements.

CME Statement: Children's Hospital is accredited by the Louisiana State Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
