PHYSIO289: Modern Breakthroughs in Biomedical Sciences: A Focus on New Techniques and Technologies

Credits: 1 Description: 1.5 hours of lecture and discussion per week.

Topics to be covered include, but are not limited to recent advances in stem cells and bioengineering, microbiota and the meta-organism, optogenetics and memory formation, and HIV treatment and gene therapy. The course will have 1 to 3 articles assigned weekly to be discussed in class. Discussions will be focused on the theories and principles behind new techniques, as well as the innovative uses of established methodologies used in the assigned readings.
