Proteomics Core
Instrumentation
The Core Facility is well equipped with instrumentations in 2 dimensional gel electrophoresis, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, for sample separation, analysis, and ultimate detection.
The major pieces of equipment serving the facility are:
2D Gel Electrophoresis
-Amersham IPGphor and Ettan DALT 2D gel electrophoresis
-Typhoon imaging system (for visualization of fluorescence dyes)
-DeCyder software program for image analysis and spot processing
-Ettan liquid sample handling robot workstation
- Traditional 2D gel electrophoresis
-BioRad 2D gel electrophoresis system
-BioRad GS-800 densitometer (for visible stains and films)
-ProteomeWorks Spot Cutter with PDQuest software for gel imaging analysis and spot picking
Mass Spectrometer
- Thermo-Fisher LTQ XL Linear Ion Trap mass spectrometer coupling with Eskigent nanoLC liquid chromatographer. (Current Status: working)
- AB Sciex (formerly part of Applied Biosystems) 4700 Proteomics Analyzer Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time-of-Flight mass spectrometer. (Current Status: not working)
- AB Sciex Voyager DE Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time-of-Flight mass spectrometer. (Current Status: not working)
Liquid Chromatographer
- Dionex Ultimate 3000 Multidimensional Liquid Chromatographer with UV/Vis detector
- Agilent 1000 Liquid Chromatographer with UV/Vis detector (status: not working)
