Rheumatology Fellowship Program

The Section of Rheumatology at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans offers a 2-year fellowship program leading to board eligibility in rheumatology. Fellowship training takes place at affiliated hospitals in the New Orleans area and provides in-depth clinical training as well as the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical research.

  • Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System

  • Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner

  • LSU Healthcare Network Multi-Speciality Clinic

 

Major Conferences:

LSU Multidisciplinary Conference is held on a weekly basis with the participation of all members of the LSU Rheumatology Section. This important conference incorporates core lectures, journal clubs, research conference, and guest presentations into one extended educational session.

 

Program Monitoring & Improvement:

The quality of training activities are monitored closely by a number of measures. These include, but are not limited to, scheduled written and oral evaluations by faculty, fellows, nurses, and patients. Several initiatives have been undertaken to analyze the quality of training in order to continuously improve the training program as part of the ACMGE phase III project.

 

Application Information:

For candidates applying for fellowship positions starting July 1, 2018, the LSU Rheumatology Fellowship program will participate in the NRMP (Rheum Match) with two positions. Applicants for these positions must apply via the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) web site.   • Must be ECFMG-certified at the time of application
