The Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) brings together family practice physicians, academics, residents, and interested students to share insights on the lifestyle, joys, and challenges of Family Medicine as it stands today.
FMIG is for anyone interested in learning more about the practice of family medicine. We strive to inform students about the opportunities associated with a career in family medicine and to keep them informed about current issues faced by the specialty. Our meetings allow students to interact with both their fellow classmates and guest speakers associated with the field of family medicine including practicing family physicians, family medicine program educators, and representatives from Louisiana family medicine residency programs. Members also have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community by taking part in TAR WARS, a program that allows medical students to educate 4th and 5th grade students in local schools about the danger and risks associated with tobacco usage.
Come join us in FMIG and see if Family Medicine is the specialty for you!
