Objectives:

  1. To enhance exposure to both IM and Pediatric outpatient experiences in a variety of settings including a private Medicine/Pediatrics clinic and a local college student health clinic.
  2. To increase exposure of 4th year medical students interested in a career in primary care to a realistic outpatient experience under the direct supervision of Med/Peds residents and faculty.
  3. To familiarize 4th year medical students interested in Med/Peds to the actual LSU Med/Peds Ambulatory rotation that all LSU Med/Peds residents actually rotate through at least twice during their four-year residency program.

Means of Implementation:

Students are given numerical grades (1-10) similar to other student rotations based on their knowledge base, enthusiasm, degree of participation, and interpersonal skills.

Method of Evaluation:

The student’s clinical performance during this rotation will be evaluated by the Medicine/Pediatrics teaching staff. Students will receive both verbal and written feedback.
