RADIOLOGY

Objectives:

  1. Students will learn which studies to order for their patients to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  2. Be able to interpret basic studies which they will encounter in the ER or wards.

Means of Implementation:

Students will rotate on designated days through different sections to emphasis the scope of diagnostic radiology and reinforce what they have learned are the diagnostic options for various diagnostic questions from the Junior Radiology course and DXR presentations.

Students will be given instruction during rotations on how to interpret plain films of the chest, abdomen and musculoskeletal system with an emphasis on chest radiograph interpretation. This will be reinforced with the recommended reading of Felson Chest Radiology. They will also have exposure to advanced imaging techniques including MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound .

Method of Evaluation:

Evaluation is based on participation in subspecialty rotations and case presentation, which will be included in the student learning file. Students may choose a case observed during one of their subspecialty rotations with interesting basic teaching points using a PowerPoint format.
