On this elective, students are given a broad exposure to the many aspects of vascular and endovascular surgery. The rotating students are allowed to follow their own patients from preoperative decision planning through to postoperative care. Students are asked to actively participate in clinic, rounds, and in the operating room. Additional hands-on training is provided with the endovascular simulator. The rotation is designed to be interactive and the students are expected to deliver presentations in the weekly multidisciplinary conference. Supervision is provided by the vascular fellow, a third year general surgery resident and four vascular surgery attendings. The student who performs the most impressively on a vascular surgery elective will be presented the Robert C. Batson Award at graduation.
